Dress Code

Students are required to come to class dressed in the proper dance attire as outlined below. Hair must be tied back and off the face at all times. One neat, tightly secured bun is required for all competitive classes and all ballet classes (competitive and recreational). Bangs off the face. (How do I make a proper ballet bun?) Dress code and uniform is strictly enforced at all times and is mandatory for class participation. Please note: all footwear must be approved by the instructors of TDI.

Shoes--It is absolutely imperative that students have the required shoes for each class. Improper, worn out or poorly made shoes will result in injury, and hinder the progress of your child. Please do not purchase shoes that are too large for your child’s foot in hopes that you will get more use out of them. Dance shoes that are too big cause injury! Please do not purchase second hand dance shoes.

Dancers--Please keep in mind that proper hygiene is essential while participating in dance class. A fresh, clean, neat appearance is necessary, and there should be no holes or runs in tights. Please make every effort to be a "pleasant" asset to the rest of your class as well as your teachers.

JAZZ & MUSICAL THEATRE	Capezio Gore Boots (slip on jazz shoes with no laces), style #CG05. Caramel for girls in Children’s and Primary classes. Black for all boys and girls in Junior, Senior and Adult classes.	One piece bodysuit and footed tights. Colour and style is optional. Other dancewear/active wear is not allowed.	Black Dance Pants and white T-shirt.
TAP	Children’s Classes: Tan coloured Bloch tap shoes, style #50302. These shoes come with taps already attached. Primary Classes: Capezio Cuban Heels, style #455, colour: Caramel. Purchase these shoes at Sequins Plus and your shoes will come with taps already attached. All other stores, taps come separately and must be taken to a shoemaker. All taps purchased must be Capezio Tele Tone taps. Junior, Senior and Adult Classes: Black Capezio Hoof Masters, style #CG100. These shoes come with taps already attached. All Boys: Black Capezio Hoof Masters, style #CG100. These shoes come with taps already attached.	One piece bodysuit and footed tights. Colour and style is optional. IMPORTANT! All tap shoes must be inspected by your teacher prior to wearing them. In the event that your screws have been put in crooked, your shoes will need to be returned so as not to damage the studio floors.
BALLET	Girls: Pink Capezio canvas split sole ballet slippers with pink sewn elastic strap. Style #2030 Boys: Black Capezio canvas split sole ballet slippers with black sewn elastic strap. ACRO & TUMBLING	Bare feet	One piece bodysuit and footless or stirrup tights. Colour and style is optional. Other dancewear/active wear is not allowed.	Black Dance Pants or shorts and white T-shirt.

HIP HOP	Plain black DANCE SNEAKERS purchased from a dancewear store. Some suggestions: Leos, style #998 Capezio, style #DS 24 Capezio, style #DS 11 These shoes must be kept for indoor use only. CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS-Competitive Program

Ballet-Girls: PLAIN BLACK body suit with pink FOOTED tights. Cut off tights and body suits with colour are not permitted. Boys: White t-shirt, black dance pants.
All Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Musical Theatre classes and Mini Company-Girls: One piece bodysuit and footed tights. Colour and style is optional. Other dancewear/active wear is not allowed. Cut off tights must reach mid-calf or they are not acceptable. Boys: White t-shirt, black dance pants.
Acro and Tumbling classes-Girls: One piece bodysuit and footless or stirrup tights. Colour and style is optional. Other dancewear/active wear is not allowed. Cut off tights must reach mid-calf or they are not acceptable. Boys: White t-shirt, black dance pants.
Hip Hop-Comfortable active wear, no jeans allowed.

HAIR

Ballet-one neatly secured bun (please use sufficient bobby pins and a hair net). Bangs off face. Short hair requires a secure, soft, headband. Plastic, fashion headbands are not permitted.
All other classes-one neatly secured bun or one ponytail. All hair must be off the face and tightly secured with proper hair elastics; no fashion headbands. Students are expected to arrive in class with hair done. Wasting class time on hair will not be tolerated.
