Yuri is a graduate of the National Ballet School in Kiev, Ukraine, trained in performance and choreography. After graduation, Yuri performed as a Soloist with the National Dance Company and spent several years touring Europe, North, and South America with the world famous Virsky Dance Company and the National Opera and Ballet of Ukraine. A recent tour has taken Yuri to Seoul, South Korea.

Since immigrating to Canada, Yuri has continued to perform, choreograph and teach. His recent choreographic work has included Canadian Ballet Theatre, "Gala of the 21st Century", produced by Samuel Tencer & Nadia Veselova-Tencer; Walt Disney's movie, "Ice Princess" and Canadian Ballet Theatre "The Nutcracker" performed at Toronto's Winter Garden Theatre in December 2006.

Yuri’s students have been featured on The Family Channel’s “The Next Step” and include figure skating ice dance champions Paul Pourier and Vanessa Crone and Canadian National free skate figure skating Champion Gabrielle Daleman. He has also taught and coached Evgeni Dokoukine; soloist with Canadian Ballet Theatre, Louisville ballet, Israel National Ballet, Ballet Du Capitole in Toulouse France, and Estonian National Ballet.
